    Far East District celebrates first Local National to complete DoD Financial Management certification

    CAMP HUMPHREYS, Republic of Korea – Kim KyongA, a Programs and Project Management Division (PPMD) program analyst for U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Far East District (FED), was recognized by USACE Headquarters for her completion of the DoD Financial Management (FM) Level I certification program. She is the first Local National to complete this training, Corps and DoD-wide.

    9,000 Hours and an 18-Month Upgrade Prove Fruitful for the FED

    In 2019, the FED developed a comprehensive plan to identify and subsequently fortify its technological vulnerabilities. This ongoing plan of action spanned 18 months and has involved the onboarding of six new IMO specialists dedicated to the new endeavor.

    Former Advancing Minorities in Engineering (AMIE) intern, Oluwaferanmi Olulana, was writing his last paper for the last project required to complete his undergraduate degree in civil engineering when I contacted him to inquire about his aspirations after his Far East District internship.
