    After the relocation of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Far East District headquarters, from Dongdaemun to Pyeongtaek in 2018, the outdoor greenspace that once was is alive again, thanks to the FED 2020-2021 USACE Leadership Development II Program. The greenspace capstone project was awarded, constructed, and closed out in less than four months.

    Regular monitoring through laboratory analysis and continuous visual inspections of each site, help keep surface water clean. The Clean Water Act, governed by the Environmental Protection Agency, establishes the basic structure for regulating discharges of pollutants into the water and regulating quality standards for surface waters.  FED regulates the SWPPP in accordance with the Korean Environmental Governing Standards, which states that USFK installations should keep quality discharge stormwater.

    Stormwater Pollution Prevention and Energy Awareness Month

    USAG HUMPHREYS, Republic of Korea—National Energy Awareness month, observed throughout the month of October, is embedded in the way the Far East District operates every day. They do this by regulating the Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan.

    FED personnel earn American Concrete Institute certification

    USAG HUMPHREYS, Republic of Korea — Far East District personnel took advantage of the American Concrete Institute certification offered by trainers from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Savannah District, Materials Testing Regional Technical Center of Expertise, and the USACE Engineering Research and Development Center, based in Vicksburg, Miss., Sept. 27 – Oct. 8.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Far East District Transportation Branch recently scored a perfect score, 31 out of 31, on their USAG Humphreys Environmental Inspection. Through careful planning, teamwork, and attention to detail, the Far East District has been able to achieve a perfect score for multiple inspections.

    Division Commander highlights partnership, engineering excellence at USACE Far East District

    U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Pacific Ocean Division (POD) Commander, Brig. Gen. Kirk Gibbs conducted an official visit to the Far East District, engaging with employees, U.S and international partners and touring critical projects while in the Republic of Korea Aug. 19 - 27.
  • Volunteers from within the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Far East District organize donation items that were collected from throughout the workforce during FED’s first Sungyook Orphanage donation drive at District headquarters, Sept. 10. The District collected 675 items, to include clothes, books, toys, makeup, accessories, school supplies and more, and delivered the gifts to the orphanage, Sept. 13, in time for the Chuseok holiday.

    Far East District employees unite to donate Chuseok gifts to Korean orphans

    PYEONGTAEK, Republic of Korea - Employees of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Far East District (FED) rallied together over a period of four weeks to collect and donate six large boxes filled with gifts for Sungyook Orphanage, located near District headquarters in Pyeongtaek, Sept. 13.

    FED leads biodiversity efforts for U.S. military in the ROK

    U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Far East District (FED) is entrusted with ensuring that natural resource conservation measures and activities on all U.S. Forces Korea installations are integrated and consistent with federal stewardship requirements.
