    Volunteers from within the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Far East District organize donation items that were collected from throughout the workforce during FED’s first Sungyook Orphanage donation drive at District headquarters, Sept. 10. The District collected 675 items, to include clothes, books, toys, makeup, accessories, school supplies and more, and delivered the gifts to the orphanage, Sept. 13, in time for the Chuseok holiday.

    Far East District employees unite to donate Chuseok gifts to Korean orphans

    PYEONGTAEK, Republic of Korea - Employees of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Far East District (FED) rallied together over a period of four weeks to collect and donate six large boxes filled with gifts for Sungyook Orphanage, located near District headquarters in Pyeongtaek, Sept. 13.

    FED leads biodiversity efforts for U.S. military in the ROK

    U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Far East District (FED) is entrusted with ensuring that natural resource conservation measures and activities on all U.S. Forces Korea installations are integrated and consistent with federal stewardship requirements.

    Effective Sept. 1, 2021, all DoD Civilians, Contractors and Family Members, traveling to the Republic of Korea must have a valid visa or an approved Korea - Electronic Travel Authorization (K-ETA) prior to entering the country, unless already in possession of a valid Korean visa.

    Strengthening readiness through communications equipment classes

    USAG HUMPHREYS, Republic of Korea – U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Far East District held a communications class at the FED motor pool, Aug. 17, for employees to familiarize themselves with the organization’s contingency communications equipment.

    Typhoon season on Korea FED construction sites

    Typhoon season on the Korean peninsula occurs May 15 through Nov. 30. Surrounded by bodies of water, the Korean peninsula is subject to typhoons that cause heavy showers and hazardous weather conditions. For U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Far East District (FED), processes are in place to protect employees, construction sites, and the surrounding community. Professionals do a smooth transition, shifting gears in preparation for typhoons.

    David Montes Jr.: Soldier, Project Manager, and now, Chaplain candidate

    David Montes Jr. has answered a panoply of calls from Soldiers throughout his 22-year Army career. Two years ago, Montes decided to answer another, much higher call: to become a Chaplain. His decision to answer this particular call has placed him on a new path as a Chaplain candidate in the U.S. Army Reserves.
