    Army Finance Center and Accounting Services-Korea building project complete

    USAG HUMPHREYS, Republic of Korea — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Far East District (FED), recently turned over project SPT110A, the Army Finance and Accounting Services-Korea building, with an Acceptance Release Letter (ARL) ceremony, here, May 24.
  • Scientific Name: Bubo bubo Life Span: 20 years Diet: Small mammals, amphibians, insects, and birds Size: 3 feet Wingspan: 4 feet A top predator in the local food chain, they inhabit forested areas across South Korea. Owls can be seen on USAG Humphreys resting in trees. Mostly nocturnal, owls spend their active time hunting at night. The Eurasian eagle owl is one of the world’s largest owl species.     U.S. military Natural Resources Management program protects species in South Korea

    Part of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers mission is to advocate for the health of the planet through programs and initiatives in climate change resilience, sustainability, and environmental justice. The Far East District environmental efforts are actively engaged in the Natural Resources Management program, to help protect certain flora and fauna in the local area.

    Far East District brings joy to Korean orphans for Children’s Day

    USAG HUMPHREYS, Republic of Korea — U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Far East District coordinated a donation drive for Sungyook Orphanage in celebration of Children’s Day, May 5. The donation drive was FED’s second community outreach effort for the orphanage, following their previous donation during the Chuseok holiday, Sept. 13. This year, volunteers from the District came together for 54 Korean children with personalized gifts chosen by each child.

    Far East District holds communications equipment classes

    USAG HUMPHREYS, Republic of Korea — U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Far East District held a communications equipment training at the FED motor pool, April 14, for District personnel to have hands-on use of specific communication contingency devices.

    Lee Jung: Taking Care of People, an adoption story

    Lee Jung is a Korean American electrical engineer at the Far East District. In all facets of his life, he is a facilitator of sorts. Throughout his life, Jung’s positive energy has passed through his many good deeds, connecting people and creating long-lasting relationships.

    HBCU students jumpstart their careers through Far East District internship

    February is a time of increased recruiting efforts for internships within the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math disciplines for the Corps of Engineers. The Corps has held a partnership with the Advancing Minorities' Interest in Engineering, a non-profit outreach organization, since 1995.
