    ENFIRE Refresher Course Produces Renewed Contingency Preparedness

    The 11th Engineers have concluded a refresher course held during the week of Aug. 3 designed to leverage the use of ENFIRE, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) rapid data collecting tool kit. Instruction set, reconnaissance, and surveying (commonly known as ENFIRE) allows Far East District (FED) Soldiers and civilians to conduct reconnaissance with modernized collection and dissemination technology from a safe distance, making it possible to deliver data with a greater level of precision than ever before.

    Nursing and Engineering: A Surprisingly Unsurprising Pairing

    When I walked into the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Far East District (FED) building on my first day as a summer hire, I felt some uncertainty and confusion as to how I, a nursing major, could contribute to the district. I had never taken an engineering class, nor had I even visited a construction site before. The confusion extended into the district employees as well, as they looked at me and asked, “nursing and engineering? I can’t see how those two have any relation.”
  • The Far East District USACE Leadership Development Program (ULDP) class of 2020 was recognized on their graduation July 8 at the district headquarters. The team consisted of six GS-12 and KGS-11 employees from various career fields and was named WIP6, which stands for “Work in Progress 6.” The group completed a 14 month program to enhance and develop their skills as leaders.     The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Far East District (FED) will receive a new water well drill rig in July as part of the renewal of its fleet. The rig was funded by the Korean Ministry of National Defense and FED engineers are performing quality assurance testing to ensure its integrity.

    Customer service, morale; driving forces for FED mailroom operations during COVID 19

    CAMP HUMPHREYS, South Korea— Receiving mail and packages can often be a morale booster for U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Far East District employees while serving overseas. The COVID 19 pandemic continues to change operations almost daily, however, the district consolidated mailroom has continued its mission throughout this challenging period.
