    The Republic of Korea-U.S. Alliance Friendship Association presented a Korean name, Woo, Jae-hee, to Col.     USAG HUMPHREYS, South Korea – The Republic of Korea-U.S. Alliance Friendship Association presented a Korean name, Woo, Jae-hee, to Col. Jeremiah J. Willis, commander, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – Far East District, during a ceremony in Seoul, South Korea, on Dec. 13, 2024. He also earned an honorary Taekwondo black belt during the event.

    Ribbon cut on brand-new dining facility ahead of the holidays at Kunsan Air Base

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – Far East District, 8th Fighter Wing, Republic of Korea Ministry of National Defense – Defense Installations Agency and unit representatives celebrated the ribbon cutting for a brand-new dining facility (DFAC) at Kunsan Air Base, South Korea, on Dec. 16, 2024.

    Building leaders: Three USACE Far East District employees graduate leadership program

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – Far East District recognized three employees for completing the USACE Leadership Development Program (ULDP) Level 3 Dec. 5, 2024, in a virtual ceremony. The class included 10 people from across USACE Pacific Ocean Division. ULDP aims to cultivate leadership at all levels within USACE “regardless of their formal position or role in their organization, to develop their leadership potential, knowledge and skills.”

    When walking into Humphreys High School, students can see walls, electrical wiring, outlets, windows or maybe cranes as they look outside Ms. Valerie Mitchell’s classroom window. Five engineers from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – Far East District pointed these items out as they described engineering and how it affects everyone on Camp Humphreys during “The STEAM Source” speaker series Nov. 7, 2024.

    New housing towers open at Camp Humphreys, celebrating legacy and sustainability

    With the snip of nine pairs of scissors, the U.S. Army opened three new housing towers on U.S. Army Garrison Humphreys, South Korea, Sep. 13, 2024. Representatives from the installation, families moving into the buildings, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – Far East District and Eighth Army joined to open the doors of the towers and dedicate them to three Medal of Honor recipients.

    USACE Far East District welcomes Col. Jeremiah Willis as its 39th Commander

    USAG Humphreys, Republic of Korea – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) –Far East District (FED) held a change of command ceremony on August 21, 2024, during which Col. Heather A. Levy relinquished command to Col. Jeremiah J. Willis. Brig. Gen. Joseph C. “Clete” Goetz II, USACE Pacific Ocean Division commander, presided over the event at Riverbend Golf Course on Camp Humphreys, South Korea.

    Army engineers empower young minds with STEAM experiences in South Korea

    No challenge is too big for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. With that mindset, the Far East District set out to ignite a passion for science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) among young students through hands-on learning experiences and direct interaction with professional engineers. The district hosted a series of STEAM events at Central and West Elementary Schools in May at Camp Humphreys, South Korea.

    Brand-new home for Soldiers opens at U.S. Army Garrison Humphreys

    New barracks for unaccompanied enlisted Soldiers are officially opened at U.S. Army Garrison Humphreys. Representatives from the installation, unit moving into the buildings, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – Far East District and the Republic of Korea Ministry of National Defense – Defense Installation Agency joined to cut the ribbon in a ceremony on May 31, 2024.

    Army engineers hold industry day for updated elevator specifications in South Korea

    Every day, about a thousand elevators take people up and down on US military installations in South Korea. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – Far East District is working to streamline the design, construction and maintenance of these lifts by updating their design specifications to incorporate Korean codes opening the door to local manufacturers to supply products on future projects.
