    Honoring Mr. Wang Hui-chan’s 43 Years of Service honored with de Fleury Medal

    CAMP HUMPHREYS, South Korea – Mr. Wang Hui-chan, chief of the Cost Engineering Branch for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – Far East District (USACE FED), received the Silver Order of the de Fleury Medal from Brig. Gen. Joseph “Clete” Goetz II, commander of the USACE Pacific Ocean Division, on April 14, 2026. The prestigious award recognizes his 43-year career years of service, defined by technical expertise in cost engineering and leadership on key projects that strengthened the engineering partnership between the U.S. and South Korea.

    Three Generations, One Mission: The Yo Family’s Century of Service at USACE Far East District

    For many employees, working at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – Far East District (USACE FED) is a career. For the Yo family, it has become a legacy spanning three generations built on dedication, gratitude, and a shared commitment to service. As longtime Visual Information Specialist Yo Kyong-il prepares to retire after more than four decades with the district, his career reflects not only the transformation of technology and the growth of the organization, but also the enduring values that have shaped his family’s connection to FED. Mr. Yo began his career in April 1985 as a supply clerk. His path to FED was inspired by his father, Yo Joon-gook, who worked as a district gardener with the Logistics Management Office and held a deep affection for the organization.

    Army engineers break ground on third elementary school for largest overseas U.S. military installation

    Beneath a blue sky and nestled among family housing towers, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – Far East District joined the Ministry of National Defense - Defense Installation Agency (MND-DIA), Eighth Army, U.S. Army Garrison Humphreys and the Department of Defense Education Activity to break ground on a new elementary school for the installation on Sept. 7, 2023.
