The Korea Herald published an article about the discovery of the North Korean tunnel on the front page of the newspaper on March 20, 1975. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Far East District drilling teams supported the DMZ tunnel neutralization from March 1975 until the 1990s, when the Republic of Korea took over the activity entirely.
