Colonel Heather A. Levy became the 38th Commander, Far East District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, on 19 July 2022.  As Commander and District Engineer, she is responsible for the planning, engineering, design, and construction management services across the full spectrum of operations from armistice to contingency in support of the Department of Defense and U.S. Forces in the Republic of Korea, leading a workforce of more than 500 military, U.S., and Korean National employees executing an overall program in excess of $10 billion.

COL Heather Levy is a recent Distinguished Graduate of the Army War College, where she earned a Masters in Strategic Studies. She was commissioned as an Engineer Officer from the University of California at Berkeley. In addition to a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology, she holds a Master of Science Degree in Civil Engineering, a Masters in International Public Policy from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, and a Masters in Military Arts and Sciences from the Command and General Staff College. She has been a certified Project Management Professional since 2015.

Colonel Levy’s previous assignments include: Platoon Leader, Executive Officer, and Assistant Operations Officer in C/864th Engineer Battalion at Fort Wainwright, Alaska; Construction Officer for Operation Alaska Road, Ketchikan, Alaska; SFOR Operations Officer, Sarajevo, Bosnia; Company Commander, 887th Light Equipment Company, and 1st Brigade Engineer, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell and Iraq; Assistant Professor of Military Science, Johns Hopkins University; Executive Officer/Operations Officer, 4/10 Mountain Division, Afghanistan and Fort Polk, Louisiana; Observer/Controller-Trainer and Deputy Chief of Staff, National Training Center and Fort Irwin, California; Battalion Commander, 65th Brigade Engineer Battalion, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; Engineer Enlisted Branch Chief, Fort Knox, Kentucky; I Corps Engineer, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.

Colonel Levy’s awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal with Valor, Bronze Star (2 OLC), Purple Heart, the Meritorious Service Medal (SLC), Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Army Commendation Medal (1 OLC), the Joint Service Achievement Medal, and the Army Achievement Medal (4 OLC).  She has also been awarded the Engineer Regiment’s Bronze Order of the de Fleury.

Colonel Levy and is married with two children.
